SKATEBOARDS
§15-1003. Skateboards.
1. Definition.
Skateboard–a narrow board or similar item approximately 2 feet long, mounted on roller skate-type wheels.
2. No person shall operate or use a skateboard within the Township of Annville in the following described areas:
A. In the highway or adjoining sidewalks of U.S. Route 422 or Pennsylvania Route 934.
B. Any municipal parking lot, municipal garage property, the Annville Town Hall, or the Quittie Park, or any sidewalks adjacent thereto.
3. Parental Responsibility. Neither the parent, nor the legal guardian of any minor (person under the age of 18) shall authorize or knowingly permit such minor to violate any of the provisions of this Section.
4. Violations and Penalties. Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this Section shall incur the following penalties:
- First Offense. Upon conviction of violating this Section for the first time, the skateboard of such convicted person shall be impounded by the Annville Township Police Department for a period of time not exceeding 15 days and further, if said person convicted of violating this Section is a minor, in addition to the period of impoundment herein described, the Annville Township Police Department shall notify the parents, guardians, or any other person having legal custody of said minor convicted of violating this Section of the violation of this Section by that minor, of the impounding of the skateboard and the time period thereof and shall provide a copy of this Section. Said notice may be given in person or may be given in writing and mailed by Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested to the then current address of the parents, guardians, or other person.
B. Second or Subsequent Offense. Upon conviction of violating this Section for the second or subsequent time, the skateboard of such convicted person shall be impounded by the Annville Township Police Department for a period not exceeding 30 days and said person convicted of violating this Section on a second or subsequent occasion, shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $15, as well as the costs of prosecution thereof; and further, if said person violating the provisions of this Section is a minor, then the parent, guardian or other person having legal custody of said minor shall, upon conviction of a violation of this Section, shall be sentenced to pay a fine of no more than $15 as well as costs of prosecution.
