In May of 2021, the Palmyra Police Department implemented the use of body worn cameras to supplement the current in car cameras.
The body worn cameras will be worn by officers in the chest area to record interactions between the officers and the public.
The body worn cameras will help the department accomplish several objectives:
- Provide accurate documentation of police-public contacts, arrests and critical incident response
- Enhance the accuracy of officer reports and testimony in court
- Document crime and accident scenes and other events
- Enhance evaluation of police conduct and professionalism
