This past week the department has seen an increase in attempted phone call scams. The incidents involved someone calling and saying they are from Amazon and that your account is past due and you own $400 dollars. They will next ask you to log into your bank account and then go to a store to buy gift cards. After this they will want you to provide the number on the gift card.
The next scam is a phone call from law enforcement in Texas stating they you have a warrant and to satisfy the warrant you will need to purchase gift cards. If you ask questions they will say that a Marshall will be at your home the next day to arrest you.
Should you receive a call and believe its a scam contact the Palmyra Police at 717-838-8188.
