The Western Lebanon County Regional Police Department is posting this to educate community members on e-bikes, electric scooters and motorized pedalcycles. We are asking that you become familiar with PA state laws regulating their operation. A fact sheet provided by PennDOT is available at that bottom of this post. The sheet can be summarized as followed:
Electric powered scooters cannot be ridden anywhere, but on private property.
Motorized pedalcycles require the following:
E-bikes require the following:
Owners and riders should be aware that any device legally permitted to operate on a public roadway must follow all rules of the road just like a motor vehicle (stop signs, redlight, one-way street, speed limits, etc).
Enforcement for violating any of the above could result in receiving traffic citations.
